Summer Session 2025

Summer pre-service trainings are vital to ensuring a cohesive program and team. To support your efforts, the Collaborative is offering two recurring virtual foundational trainings – one for MLL/ELL and the other for special education – throughout the month of August. The two-hour courses will be offered over three weeks in multiple time slots to ensure they can be incorporated into your school’s typical pre-service training schedule.

For a flat fee, participating schools will get:

  • Unlimited seats to a two-hour virtual foundational training offered in numerous time slots to complement your pre-service training schedule
  • Preview session for school leadership to maximize participation and impact, including a walk-through of workshop materials and recommendations for follow up implementation and supportive staff structures
  • A customized analysis of your staff’s feedback on exit surveys to guide your beginning-of-year implementation supports
  • Exclusive access to session recordings to support the onboarding of mid-year hires

Special Education 101: Foundational Whats, Whys, & Hows

MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS, AUGUST 11-27 (Virtual on zoom)

Support your team’s understanding of the fundamentals of special education law and the implementation of students’ IEPs, particularly accommodations, adaptations, behavioral support, and specially designed instruction. We’ll guide participants through the rights and protections of students with disabilities and provide practical approaches and tools for implementing individualized learning plans in inclusive spaces.

Strand 2

Supporting Multilingual Learners: What Every Teacher Needs to Know

TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS, AUGUST 12- 28 (Virtual on zoom)
9:00-11:00am and 1:00-3:00pm

Set the stage for your staff to share common language around engaging multilingual learners this school year! In this introductory session, all staff will gain a foundational understanding of how proficiency levels are assigned in New York, as well as how to identify the nuances of students’ language proficiency across four modalities: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Participants will also receive easily implemented strategies to proactively plan for and engage their multilingual learners in grade-level content across the modalities.

Creating Equitable Systems in PBIS
