This full day, IN PERSON session will equip participants with impactful strategies to help students succeed with math word problems. We’ll start by examining common ineffective teaching strategies, then explore two evidence-based practices: using a word-problem attack strategy and focusing on problem structures. Participants will leave ready to support all learners in solving word problems confidently.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify two common ineffective approaches to teaching word problems
- Describe an evidence-based word-problem attack strategy
- Explain the six common word problem structures
- Begin planning for bringing evidence-based practices to their own Math instruction
Facilitator: Sarah Powell
