This session bridges the gap between brain anatomy and classroom learning, exploring how brain function influences instruction and student engagement in a fast-evolving digital world, particularly for secondary students. Participants will examine the impact of technology on brain development, with a focus on executive functioning skills and the Pre-Frontal Cortex. The session will also introduce practical strategies for supporting our adolescent students, including those with disabilities, by leveraging brain-based learning techniques to enhance self-awareness and success in the classroom.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify the brain areas digital-native learners rely on and their connection to purposeful learning
- Map executive functioning skills to brain regions that support productive, socially aware learning experiences
- Use technology in ways that positively stimulate the Pre-Frontal Cortex for meaningful learning across diverse student populations
