Teaching Language through Math For MLLs/ELLs

January 23, 2025 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

- $350

While math is often regarded as a universal language, it presents unique linguistic challenges for MLLs/ELLs. This interactive session explores these challenges, as well as concrete strategies to make the language of math more accessible to all students. Unlock the power of math for every student by gaining practical tools to bridge the language gap, fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment where all multilingual learners can thrive!

By attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Clearly explain mathematical processes using precise vocabulary and sequencing words, ensuring comprehension for all learners.
  • Identify and address the linguistic hurdles multilingual learners face at the word/phrase and sentence levels in math contexts.
  • Seamlessly integrate linguistic scaffolds into your math lessons, providing support and promoting understanding for diverse learners.
