One of the biggest challenges teachers face is using assessment to truly drive student learning. The key lies in two areas: using tools like learning progressions to give data meaning, and designing assessments so students can clearly interpret their results. Part 3 of this three-part series* addresses both of these components. Participants will explore and take away templates to reorganize existing assessments or create new ones, as well as practical strategies building off of Parts 1 and 2 for using learning progressions as part of a powerful assessment system.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Apply strategies that support student metacognition
- Understand how assessment design and organization affect effectiveness
- Develop strategies to re-engage students in learning after assessments
Facilitator: Tyler Rablin
*Note: Collaborative members will use ONE STLC: School Team Learning Cohort (STLC) seat to attend this three-part series (2/24, 3/3, and 3/10). We encourage teachers to attend with coaches and/or Directors of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure alignment between schoolwide expectations and classroom instruction.
