Every child deserves access to quality, affirming learning opportunities in math. This workshop aims to provide coaches and leaders with tools they need to ensure staff is making their Math instruction accessible to diverse learners. We will explore practical strategies using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to create inclusive and accessible math learning environments for all students in grades PK-5.
Participants will:
- Explore the concepts of reactive vs. proactive planning and how to remove barriers to access
- Reflect upon students’ identities and how to honor and incorporate lived experiences into math class
- Study the intersection of systemic barriers, identity, expectations, and access and how this impacts learning
- Unpack the All Learners Lesson Structure and how to use it to proactively design instruction for all math learners, every day.
