Join us for this informative virtual session designed for school leaders, administrators, and MLL/ELL educators as New York State continues its transition from NYSITELL/NYSESLAT to WIDA* assessments, with WIDA ACCESS and Alternate ACCESS launching in Spring 2027.
This SEAT-FREE virtual session will provide participants with the latest updates from the New York State Education Department on the transition, including where networks and schools should be in their planning. Attendees will revisit the foundations of WIDA ACCESS including its structure, purpose, and key differences from NYSESLAT and review what to know about the WIDA Secure Portal, including how to log in, locate assessment training and professional learning modules, and navigate the Resources and Webinars sections now that New York educators have access as of September 2026.
Note: This session is intended to build awareness and support initial planning efforts — it is not a comprehensive training on administering WIDA assessments.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
-
Summarize the current state of New York’s WIDA transition timeline, including key 2026-27 milestones and what networks/schools should be prioritizing now.
-
Describe the structure and purpose of WIDA ACCESS and identify how it differs from NYSESLAT.
-
Navigate the WIDA Secure Portal to locate assessment training, professional learning modules, webinars, and other resources relevant to their role.
