Join us for this informative virtual session designed for school leaders, administrators, and MLL/ELL educators as New York State transitions to from the NYSITELL/NYSESLAT to WIDA assessments beginning in Spring 2027! This session will provide participants with the latest updates from the New York State Education Department regarding the transition to WIDA. Attendees will gain a foundational understanding of WIDA ACCESS, the assessment that will replace NYSESLAT in Spring 2027, including its structure, purpose, tips to prepare students, and key differences from the NYSESLAT. We will also provide a brief overview of WIDA’s proficiency levels and a look at sample WIDA ACCESS items. We’ll also look at existing tools from New York State to support language development.
Note: This session is intended to build awareness and support initial planning efforts—it is not a comprehensive training on administering WIDA assessments.
