Designing High School Regents ELA Curriculum for Entering/Emerging Newcomers

February 6 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

- $90

Looking for real ways to rise to the challenge of teaching secondary newcomers grade-level ELA standards? Then this PD is for you! In this session, participants will learn from a current practitioner and explore strategies for designing high school ELA curricula that support Entering and Emerging MLLs/ELLs. Using “A Different Pond” by Bao Phi as a model text, we’ll explore how to align lessons with the Next Generation ELA Standards while meeting the linguistic and functional needs of language learners. The session will also cover practical approaches for integrating culturally sustaining practices to boost MLLs’/ELLs’ language development and engagement. We will end with Q&A time, so come ready to engage!
