In this session, leaders will rethink what it means to support students—not as a service reserved for a few, but as a core schoolwide value. We’ll explore how schools can create a culture where every adult plays a role in ensuring students feel seen, supported, and equipped to thrive. We’ll also look at how teachers can build the flexibility to use a wide range of instructional practices—and how schools can structure collaboration to make that possible.
In the first half of the session, we’ll learn how student support can become a shared value that guides the actions of all staff. We’ll consider what it looks like when care is distributed, not siloed, and how values shape daily practice and school culture. In the second half of the session, we’ll dive into the concept of instructional flexibility—what it is, why it matters, and how schools can build it through intentional, peer-based professional learning. Participants will examine five collaborative formats that help educators explore, adapt, and apply new practices in context.
By the end of this session, leaders will be able to:
- Understand how student support can function as a core value across a school
- Define instructional flexibility and its role in equitable, responsive teaching
- Identify common barriers to implementing new practices and strategies to address them
- Explore collaborative models that help educators turn shared values into everyday action
