Could assistive technology (AT) be a “missing ingredient” for increasing the independent learning skills of your elementary students? It’s highly likely. The tools to support student independence and productivity may already be sitting on your students’ devices — you just need to know where to look and how to use them intentionally. This session explores research-validated AT supports built into the devices your school already has, as well as third-party tools that can provide additional support for struggling learners. Whether you’re thinking about Tier 1 classroom supports or IEP-mandated solutions, you’ll leave better equipped to incorporate AT in ways that help all elementary students access and develop grade-level content and skills.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Identify built-in and third-party assistive technology tools that support student independence and productivity in elementary settings
- Apply appropriate AT considerations across Tier 1 and IEP-mandated contexts to help elementary students access grade-level content
