Beyond Compliance: Teaching, Assessing, & Supporting MLLs With Disabilities Pt 2

November 21 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

- $350

In this two-part series*, you’ll delve into the complexities of assessing and supporting MLLs/ELLs and culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students with potential underlying disabilities. Gain insights from theories, policies, case studies, and practical examples to equip yourself with best practices in evaluation, collaboration, and individualized education program (IEP) development and implementation.

By the end of the series, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and explain key considerations in the assessment and evaluation of MLLs/ELLs and CLD students with potential underlying disabilities.
  • Understand and apply best practices in supporting, collaborating, and developing/implementing IEPs before or after disability identification.
  • Discuss and reflect on strategies for engaging multilingual families, communities, and fostering critical partnerships.

Participants will leave with greater knowledge, tips, handouts, and resources to help discern student behaviors and characteristics associated with disabilities or emergent bilingualism, implement best practices in the general education classroom for all culturally, linguistically, and ability-diverse students, and support families through an inclusive and culturally responsive lens.

Facilitator: Chelsea Stinson

*Note: Collaborative members will use only ONE Trainings/Workshops (TW) seat to attend this two-part series.
