In this session (Part 1 of a two-part series*), we’ll introduce the ESPEJO framework—a flexible tool to support coordinated instructional planning and delivery across any curriculum with a culturally and linguistically responsive lens. We’ll explore how its unit-level and lesson-level components mirror each other to create coherence and consistency, and how each part of the framework supports all learners. We’ll highlight how the framework naturally integrates practices that benefit multilingual learners.
Participants will see real examples in action and choose 1–2 components to apply to their own curriculum or unit plans. The goal: try it out over 3–4 weeks before returning for Part 2.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand the structure and purpose of the mirrored ESPEJO planning framework
- Identify and select framework components most relevant to their context
- Choose a future unit of study to apply the framework in preparation for Part 2
Facilitator: John Hilliard
